Ask what is new
Prerequisite: an active read-capable connection and current alerts access.get_updates returns already-sent alerts, corrections, monitor updates, and close suggestions. Without a cursor it covers the last seven days. With a cursor it continues from the position the service issued.
Retrieval records that the updates were retrieved, but does not mark content read and does not start new editorial work. Keep next_cursor opaque. On invalid_cursor, discard it and retrieve a fresh cursor from the service.
