Follow a situation
Prerequisite: an activemandate_write connection and current monitor access. start_monitor requires exactly one eligible UUID: an alert_id from the id of an alert returned by get_updates, or an edition item_id supplied by the web product. The current get_briefing and GET /briefing responses do not expose edition item IDs, so an assistant cannot start from an edition item alone. Use the web edition for that path.
Use list_monitors to see the reader’s monitors and set_monitor_state with active, paused, or stopped.
Stopping is irreversible. On not_found, do not infer whether another account owns the identifier. On monitor_stopped, follow eligible evidence again to create a new monitor.
